Farming Carbon
Farmers can reduce greenhouse gas emissions by storing carbon in their soils and at the same time improve soil health and sustainability. A summary brochure prepared for GRDC and the Condamine Alliance is available. Best practice management for storing carbon is outlined. To download a copy click here (436KB) |

GRDC Fluid Fertilisers Report (PDF 1.4MB)
An Australia-wide review of the potential for fluid fertilisers in broadacre agriculture was prepared for GRDC in 2003. P fertiliser is more efficient in fluid forms on calcareous soils in South Australia and on some low pH soils with high Iron or Aluminium. For most of Australia's cropping soils however, there is no advantage of using P in a fluid form, which is more expensive than granular MAP. Liquid N fertiliser is being used by some farmers in Western Australia who claim it is easier to use and saves labour. However, liquid N is also more expensive than solid fertilisers and has a major disadvantage in the form of corrosion reducing the life of sprayers. Click on the title to download this PDF report (1.5 MB) which includes case studies of farms using both fluid N and P fertilisers. |
