The HRM Consultant Team
Peter Wylie - PhD, MAgSc., BAgSc, QDA, MAIAST, MIMC Peter is a partner and senior consultant of Horizon Rural Management and has a wealth of experience in rural industries. Prior to establishing an independent farm management consultancy practice in 1983, Peter spent 10 years with the QDPI as an extension agronomist. Peter's particular areas of interest are profit and good management, as well as, issues such as the enviroment and sustainability. In 1998 Peter was awarded a PhD for his studies on the Economics of Sustainable Agriculture in Sub-tropical Australia. | Recent projects & assignments Crop Production In July 2004 a new project on: Adoption on Improved Nutrient Management Practises was commenced for the Grains Research and Development Corporation. Dr Peter Wylie is leader of an Australia-wide review of decision making on Nutrient Management and how we can improve it. A review of: The potential of Liquid Fertilisers in Broadacre Cropping was completed for the Grains Research and Development Corporation in 2004. This was an Australia-wide review including economice analysis and case studies of farmers using liquid fertilizers around Australia. Irrigation The Value of Irrigation Water in the St George District - prepared for Qld Department of Natural Resources. Maximising Profit from Irrigation Water - prepared for the Mobandilla Cotton Group. Jan 2000. Irrigation Development Concept Plan - prepared for the Chinchilla & District Water User's Association and Chinchilla Shire Council. Aug 1999. Precision Agriculture Cropping Systems USA and Potential for the GTS Enviro Sprayer - prepared for Rees Equipment Pty Ltd, Toowoomba. Nov 2000. An Assessment of the Potential Benefits of Precision Agriculture in Australia - a scoping study commissioned by the Grains Research and Development Corporation. Dec 1999. Risk Management A project: Assessing risk to Encourage Farm Change was completed for the Grains Research and Development Corporation in 2004. A workbook and spreadsheets to help farmers adapt to change was part of the outputs of this project. Leader of the 'Improved management of climate variability on Australian grain farms' project as part of the Climate Variability in Agriculture R&D Program administered by LWRRDC. Outputs include - Managing Climate Makes Money, Summer Rainfall Areas of Australia, a booklet and workshop series compiled as part of the above project. Harvest risk management on south Queensland grain farms - Horizon Rural Management client resource material. Economics of grain drying on on south Queensland grain farms - Horizon Rural Management client resource material. Environment R & D prioities in Enviroment and Sustainability - a review conducted for the Grains Research & Development Corporation Managing Dryland Salinity in the Queensland Murray Darling Basin - project consultant.
